Sunday saw seven athletes from Team Trisports CX compete at the British Cycling Inter-Regional Championships at Milton Keynes.
Having had athletes selected for the women’s event in 2011, the club’s increased involvement in 2012 saw athletes from the club not just selected for the women’s event but also the veteran and senior races.
Held at Milton Keynes Bowl, the course designers took into account the fact that the strongest ‘crossers in the country would be racing and duly created a parcours that required total commitment and a willingness to suffer by all those that raced.
With lead club coach Keith Perry taking on the Team Manager role for the women’s race, the ladies once again starred as they took on the best cyclocross racers in the country, including UCI Junior Road Race World Champion Lucy Garner.
Finishing first for the club in the Women’s Race was Paula Adams, who enjoyed a close battle with team mate Kate Turner. Heather Storey and Jackie Perry also did themselves proud to finish 3rd and 4th for the club respectively.
In the Vets race Sean Storey showed he’s one tough cookie as he battled against some immensely strong specialist cyclocross riders to be the lead Central B Team rider at the finish.
And in the blue ribbon Senior Race race Joel Farrow and Simon “Bam” Douglas were duly bloodied into the world of elite cyclocross racing and dug very deep to ensure that every rider from the club finished for their respective teams.
This weekend sees a return to league racing at the Central Cyclocross League Championship at Icknield where inter-club rivalries will be resumed.
