TEAM TRISPORTS ROCK THE WORLD!

Multi-sport club Team Trisports were out in numbers this weekend with athletes competing in 6 events in 3 different countries.

Steve Harrison opened his season with a win in the St Neots Nice Tri Sprint covering the 750m river swim/25k bike and 5k run in 1:04:21. Mark Harris earned his best result to date with an 8th overall in 1:14:02 with Tony Ward showing early season promise with a 1:16:54.

Down the road Simon Shaw was 7th overall in the second Bedford Sprint event in a time of 1:07:50 which was more remarkable given that he had finished first for the club the previous day in a 25 mile cycle time trial. Craig Tribe was 87th at Bedford in a time of 1:26:47.

Meanwhile in Wales, Steffan Ford returned to his home country to compete in the Slateman Triathlon at Llanberis in the shadow of Snowden. The beautiful weather had not extended to the lake and the swim had to be reduced to 750m due to low temperatures but the 51km bike over Llanberis Pass and the 11km trail run through Dinorwig Slate Quarry provided a stunning backdrop for the event. Ford was 66th overall in 2:28:11 with Sean Storey 110th in 2:56:14. Heather Storey braved the cold completing the sprint event in 1:48:38 for 11th female finish.

Further afield, Richard Melvern and Drew Lowrie took on Ironman Lanzarote, recognised as one of the toughest triathlons in the world, with Melvern earning a well-deserved third in age group in 13 hours 25 minutes and 33 seconds. Lowrie finished in an excellent 14:13:12.

In cycle action over the weekend at the North Road CC Memorial 25 mile TT, Simon Shaw was the leading club rider in 1:02:37. Jackie Perry was first home for the women in a time of 1:13:11. Also competing were Tony Shortland 1:09:08, Tim Smith 1:10:21, Mike Russell 1:14:19, Anna Holden 1:15:34, Sam Tophill 1:19:34. Sean Bradley had to retire with a mechanical issue but did complete the Ashwell mid-week 10 mile TT in 25:56 with Anna Holden also competing with a time of 30:02

And finally: Brian White ran the Lee Valley 10k finishing 6th overall in a time of 38:20
