ROCKET ROB 3rd at CLITHEROE

Athletes from Hitchin-based triathlon club Team Trisports competed in a variety of racing disciplines for over the past week.

First up, Rob Wilson finished a fantastic 3rd overall at the Clitheroe Triathlon on Sunday.

Using the race as part of his build up to Ironman Wales in three weeks, Wilson finished the pool-based sprint event in a time of 1:34:09 to improve on his time from the same event last year.

Elsewhere, Darren Greene took on the Wensleydale Triathlon, regarded by some as the toughest triathlon mile for mile.

The race, which consisted of an 1800m swim, 42 mile bike, and 12 mile run up the Pennine Way to the summit of Great Shunner Fell, saw Greene finish in a time of 5:36:00.

Taking on a slightly less daunting challenge, elite athlete Stephen Harrison finished a superb 2nd overall at round two of the Stevenage 5k Series in a time of 16:00.

Also having a great result, Mark Harris crossed the line in a storming time of 16:36 for a finishing position of 7th overall.

Veteran athlete Mike Russell also competed and finished in 18:50.

Brenda Bozwood-Davies was another vet in action as she set a 5 minute PB at The St Neots Triathlon at the weekend.

At the NRCC Brickendon Green Evening 10 TT Mike Russell recorded a time of 26:26, an improvement of 5 second on his debut the previous week.

Back to running, Steve Moakes and Elodie Levis decided to compete in a road race whilst on holiday in France and set times of 46:57 and 32:58 in the men’s and women’s events respectively.
