Elite athlete and member of Hitchin-based triathlon club Team Trisports, Stephen Harrison, was in action at Round 4 of the BTF Super Series the week before last.
The fast and furious race format of 400m swim, 10km bike and 2km run, which is held over two heats and a final, saw Harrison place in the top ten in Heat 2 and secure a place in the final.
His finishing position of 17th in the final now sees him lying 9th overall in the Super Series, one place higher than last season.
Elsewhere, the past weekend proved a landmark one for “Welsh Wizard” Steffan Ford, who went under an hour for the very first time at the Cardiff RCC 25 Mile Cycling Time Trial.
Ford’s time of 58:47 was a just reward for his concerted effort to average over 25mph in an event and over a distance many call the ‘race of truth’.
Sticking to time trialling, Tim Smith set a time of 28:00 at the Stevenage TT on Wednesday in what were very blustery conditions. Also competing were Shawn Reader, Naomi Woodland and Mark Malone.
Rob Davies rode the Ashwell 10m TT, also in blustery conditions, and recorded a time of 28:45 for a placing of 11th out of 18.
And finally, Sean Bradley achieved a great 9th place in the Hillingdon 4th category Crit Race on Tuesday after the group split and a brake away lasted.
