Two athletes from the club took on The Dambuster Triathlon at the weekend.
The race, located in Rutland and doubling as the British Triathlon National Championship, was held over the Olympic distance of 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run and saw a great result for veteran athlete Richard Melvern, whose time of 2:30:39 saw him finish 1st in the M60-64 age-group.
Also competing was Steffan Ford, who set a fantastic time of 2:12:12 to finish just outside the top ten in what is an ultra-competitive age-group.
Elsewhere, three athletes from the club took on the St Neots Sprint Triathlon.
At exactly half the distance of an Olympic triathlon, there was plenty of opportunity for the speed merchants to strut their stuff. And not disappointing; Team Trisports’ very own Ian Mackerness (pictured) set a blistering time of 1:09:21 to finish a superb 4th position overall, and 1st Vet, in a time of 1:09:21.
There was also a great result for senior athlete Mark Harris, who set a new personal best time of 1:15:05 to finish 10th overall.
Veteran Brenda Bozwood-Davies also took part and set a time of 1:51:53.
And finally; Sean Bradley completed the Shaftesbury CC 25 Mile Time Trial and clocked a new PB time for the distance in 1:02:34. An improvement of more than four minutes.
