Veteran athlete Chris Priestley competed in the ETU European Sprint Triathlon Age Group Championship in Pontevedra Spain this past weekend and finished the 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run event as the 3rd British finisher in the 55-59 age-group and 9th in his age-group overall.

Also at the weekend, Mike Russell completed the Walden Sprint Tri in a time of 1:28:09 to finish in 34th position overall and 4th in his age-group.

The week before, Gary Smith raced IronmanUK70.3, considered by many to be the toughest half-ironman in the world, in a time of 5:22:39 to finish 85th overall out of more than 1500 competitors over the race distance of 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike and 13.1 mile run.

Back to last weekend, nine members of Team Trisports used the BRCC Bedford Cycle Fest Cyclo-Cross to check out their pre season form. Usually a winter event, the warm dry conditions proved a good fast physical test with the race over 30 minutes +2 laps.

Sean Storey, competing in ‘cross for the first time was 1st home for the club with Tim Smith just ahead of Mark Grayson for the male honours. Newest member Craig Tribe also competed for the first time. Jackie Perry was the only women in the race and did well beating many of the male entries.

Also competing were; Mark Beaver (9th), Keith Perry (10th), Sean Bradley (12th) and Mick Humphris (14th).

Switching to time trialling, Adam Laycock completed the Ecca 100 Mile TT in a time of 4:00:20 as part of his Ironman Germany preparations.

On Wednesday, Steffan Ford and Tim Smith took on some mid-week action at the Stevenage 10 Mile TT and both secured podium finishes in 2nd and 3rd respectively with times of 25:11 and 27:00.

And finally, on Tuesday evening Mike Russell raced the Hitchin Nomads CC Briercliffe 10 Mile TT in 28:23.
