Triathlon club Team Trisports had a number of athletes in competitive action at the weekend.

Firstly, Rob Wilson finished a fantastic 6th overall and 1st in the 40-44 age-group at the Wilmslow Triathlon.

The race consisted of a 400m pool swim, 24.2km bike and 5.6km run and despite a less than ideal swim leg Wilson was soon picking people off on the blustery bike leg to record the 3rd fastest bike split of the day on the way to his great result.

Also competing in the same race, Steve Mussett crossed the line in 1:30:48.

Elsewhere, three athletes from the club competed at the Grendon Triathlon.

First home for the Hitchin-based club was Ian Mackerness, who completed the standard sprint distance event of 750m open water swim, 20km bike and 5km run in a great time of 1:11:44 to finish 2nd in the 45-49 age-group.

There was even more age-group success for the club as Heather Storey finished 3rd in the Female 35-39 category. Husband Sean Storey also raced and stopped the clock in a highly respectable time of 1:20:46.

At the Cotswold Supersprint Triathlon Gary Smith finished the 400m swim, 20km bike and 5km run in a time of 59:38 to finish 28th overall and 5th in his age-group.

There was also some single discipline racing over the weekend as Helen Shulver recorded a new PB at the Sheffield Half Marathon. Her time of 1:43:23 was an improvement of just over four and a half minutes.

And finally; four athletes raced at the Wisbech 25 Mile Cycling Time Trial and recorded some great times in the process.

The ‘Welsh Wizard’ Steffan Ford finished first for the club in a blistering time of 1:00:22 to just miss out on a magic ‘sub-60’ time and Mark Grayson was also on form in a time of 1:02:11. Tim Smith finished in 1:05:20 and Sean Bradley clocked a time of 1:06:39.
