RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER!

Team Trisports’ veteran athlete Anna Priestley managed to put a silver lining on the wet and misty weather on Sunday as she secured a silver medal in the Female 55-59 age-group at the British Duathlon Championship hosted via the Clumber Classic Duathlon.

Priestley’s result also meant that she finished one step higher on the podium this year compared with her bronze medal winning performance at last year’s race.

Also competing was husband Chris, who finished the 10km run, 40km bike, 5km event in a time of 2:20:52 to record a new PB.

Back from injury and back on form, fellow veteran athlete Brian White was the first club finisher on the day and clocked a 2:15:32 to finish 5th in a highly competitive Male 55-59 age-group.

And finally, Gemma Sargent ensured some representation from the ‘thirty-something’ generation to cross the line in 2:18:40.

Turning to road racing, Gary Smith and Pete Ryan were on blistering half-marathon form at the weekend as they both recorded PB performances.

Smith clocked a lightning-fast 1:21:17 at the Bath Half-Marathon to record his PB and Ryan crossed the line in 1:22:57 at the Berkhampsted Half-Marathon to finish 25th out of more than 1200 competitors and lower his PB by over two minutes.
