SUPER STEVE’S TOP TEN FINISH

Team Trisports had reason to celebrate last week as their elite athlete Stephen Harrison finished in a superb 9th place in the British Triathlon Super Series.

The five race series, which featured iconic events such as The London Triathlon, saw Harrison take on the cream of the elite scene, including 2006 world champion and Olympian Tim Don.

Harrison’s fantastic finishing position was secured after the final round of the series took place at the Parc Bryn Bach Elite Triathlon in Wales.

Attacking the last race in his customary full throttle style, Harrison clocked a lightning fast time of 1:04:07 for the sprint distance event of 750m swim, 20km bike and 10km run.

On the same weekend, James Utting competed at the New Forest Middle Distance Triathlon.

Taking place at the Sandy Balls Holiday Centre, Utting completed the 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21km run in a great time of 5:17:54 to finish 48th out of the 346 athletes who managed to finished the gruelling race.

There was also a great result for Darren Woodhall last Saturday as he secured a PB performance at the Clacton Sprint Triathlon.

The costal event, which features a sea swim, saw Woodhall stop the clock at 1:19:38 to finish 14th overall, 5th in his age group and lower his previous best time by two minutes.

Steering clear of the beaches, Pete Ryan finished his 2010 season in style with an excellent 16th placed finish at the USN Votwo Dorney Triathlon at Dorney Lakes on Sunday.

The Olympic distance event of 1500m swim, 40km multi-lap bike and 10km run saw Ryan cross the line in 2:21:02 to finish ahead of more than a hundred of his rivals.

Further afield, Rob Davies competed in the inaugural Skipjack Triathlon in Maryland, USA. The race, which was held over a flat course, featured a 1.2 mile sea swim, 67 mile bike and 10 mile run and saw Davies finish his first middle distance event in a time of 6:25:12, despite brutal temperatures of 34c on the run.

In much chillier conditions, Brenda Bozwood-Davies set a time of 1:30:10 at the Roade Sprint Triathlon on Sunday to finish an excellent third in her age-group.

Run specialist Brian White continued his comeback from long term injury to compete at the Run to the Beat Half Marathon and set a great time of 1:23:49 to finish a well deserved third in his age-group.

Still on the running theme, Mike Russell raced the Saffron Walden 10K on Sunday in quick time of 39:03 to cross the line a superb 18th overall out of more than 300 finishers and 4th in the MV50 age-group.

And finally, Dil Wetheril ran the Biggleswade Atheltics Club Open Meeting 5000m on Saturday and finished 4th in a time of 18:37.
