THE ‘LEGEND’ CONTINUES

Big distances were the theme for athletes from Hitchin-based Team Trisports this past weekend, as the triathlon slowly season begins to wind-down.

First up, Ironman specialist and member of the Team Trisports Development Squad Gavin May took to the startline of Ironman Canada on Sunday.

Despite battling illness in the lead up to the race and weather conditions that included rain, hail and wind, May still displayed his customary inner toughness as he completed the epic race distance of 2.4m swim, 112 mile bike and 26.2 mile full marathon run in a time of 11:43:13.

Also ‘going long’, Chris Suckling dialled in a great performance at the Big Woody to finish the iron-distance race in 12:10:27 and 21st place overall.

A week earlier, Helen Shulver returned to short course action at the Allerthorpe Classic Triathlon and completed the 1500m swim, 40km bike and 10km run in 2:33:51 to finish 7th female athlete overall.

And finally, Lisa Dunne and Steve Rust took part in the iconic Alpe D’Huez Triathlon and covered the gruelling race distance of 2.4km swim, 112km bike and 21km run in times of 9:28:15 and 9:58:20 respectively.
