With just a few days to go until the final round of their club championship, most athletes from Hitchin-based triathlon club Team Trisports spent last weekend either resting-up or putting in some last minute training ahead of this Sunday’s championship decider.
However, for a few athletes it proves impossible to resist the racing bug and as a result we saw a few club members take to the startline of various events last weekend.
First up Katy Jinks pictured, who is a member of the Team Trisports Development Squad that receive equipment and technical support from Letchworth-based multisport retailers Trisports, raced at The Dambuster Triathlon on Saturday. The event, held over a 1500m swim, 42km bike and 10km run saw Jinks set a great time of 2:30:31 which included a customary blistering swim leg of 23:11.
The following day, Graham Perry competed in the Walden Tri and set a new PB time of 1:35:11 in cold and windy conditions. His time meant that he covered the race distance of 750m pool-based swim, 25km bike and 5km run 2:26 faster than last year.
Deciding to stay in the water, Kevan Armstrong entered the Great East Swim on Saturday and clocked a time of 24:49 over the race distance of one mile.
From wetsuits to wheels, Mike Russell got in some time trial action at the Dave Gudgin 25m TT on 15 June and recorded a time of 1:15:23 to finish inside the top ten overall.
