MIKE BRIDGES FRENCH CONNECTION
Elite athlete Mike Bridge ensured that Hitchin based triathlon club FVS TRI continued their international triathlon presence this year by taking part in the Alpe D’Huez Courte Triathlon. Bridge’s time of 2 hours 20 minutes over a tough course, which included the iconic climb of Alpe D’Huez, saw Bridge finish 97th overall out of more than 700 competitors, including 100 fellow elite athletes.
On Sunday, three athletes from the club were in action at a variety of events and distances. First up; veteran athlete Penny Wylie set a great time of 2:37:50 at the Barton Marina Olympic Distance Triathlon to finish 3rd in the Female 40-49 age-group.
Competing over the sprint distance of 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run; Katy Jinks finished 36th overall in the Kelso Sprint Triathlon with a time of 1:26:56.
And finally; club coach Alex Turner competed at the Finsbury Park CC 25 cycling time trial and once again went under the magic one hour barrier to record a time of 59:04; his second sub one hour ’25′ in as many weeks.
